Shear Behavior of Ultrahigh-Performance Concrete Pretensioned Bridge Girders

Because of their tensile strain-hardening characteristics, ultrahigh-performance concrete (UHPC) materials offer significant advantages in terms beam shear capacity and postcracking behavior compared to conventional reinforced-concrete beams. These rely on UHPC’s ability sustain its characteristics at the structural level. This paper reports results an experimental investigation parameters influencing prestressed UHPC bridge girders. Six pretensioned bulb-tee girders were tested with following test variables: material properties, girder height, web thickness, number prestressing strands, presence discrete transverse steel reinforcement web.
